Thank you for visiting Mystery Book Promotions, your source for information about promoting mystery books on our family of websites. We've created this page to provide an overview on what options are available to you for promoting your mystery book on our websites and to answer frequently asked questions. If you need additional information, or have a question not answered here, please feel free to contact us at info@omnimystery.com. There are many different ways in which you can promote your mystery book on our sites. Each of these is discussed in more detail below. Author Online (Virtual) Book Tour We were thrilled that the author for our debut online book tour described it as a "rousing success" and have organized several since then. Online tours are conducted on 10 book-related blogs and promoted on our own blog, Mystery Books News <http://www.mystery-books.com/>. Tours consists of a combination of book reviews, author interviews, and guest author posts on the host blogs. Though we specialize in promoting mysteries, we're happy to coordinate tours for any fiction genre. Contact us at info@omnimystery.com for specific details on the services we provide as part of this tour, including an estimate of costs. Advertising on Mystery Books News We accept text and image (banner) advertising on Mystery Books News (<http://www.mystery-books.com/>, which currently registers approximately 27,000 pageviews per month. Text ads appear on the sidebar under Mystery Resources; image (banner) ads, depending on size, appear on both the main post area or in the sidebar. Contact us at info@omnimystery.com for current rates. Mystery Book Reviews Our mystery book review website, Mysterious Reviews <http://www.mysteriousreviews.com/> publishes original reviews of mysteries. Reviews initially appear on our blog Mystery Books News <http://www.mystery-books.com/> then are subsequently indexed on Mysterious Reviews. More information on our review process can be found on our Mysterious Reviews FAQ page <http://www.mysteriousreviews.com/faq.html>. There is no charge to review books, though we do require a hard copy (or ARC) of the book; PDFs or other electronic formats are not currently reviewed. Mystery Book Contest For our mystery book contest site, we try to do something a little different from a simple book giveaway. You can visit the home page of Mystery Book Contests <http://contests.omnimystery.com/> for a list of current and past contests. We prefer signed copies of an author’s book, but it isn’t a strict requirement. And there is no requirement for the format of the book (i.e. mass market paperbacks are acceptable). But we do try to put together a “prize package” that includes the mystery book and something else that is special and different. Many authors have other interests and some of our most popular prizes have featured a combination of a book and something that represents that other interest. Don Bruns and Corey Lynn Fayman, for example, are both accomplished musicians. Prize packages featuring their books also included a CD of their music. Gerard Bianco designs jewelry; for his package, he custom crafted a pendant to include with his book. More recently Mark W. Danielson painted an original work of art to accompany his thriller. It's also fun to put together a prize package that includes something from the mystery being promoted. Hailey Lind's mysteries feature faux finisher Annie Kincaid; a faux finishing kit was included in her prize package. Michelle Gagnon included a set of runes that were mentioned in her mystery as part of the prize. Winners always like to receive complete sets of books in a series. Diane Killian provided signed copies of all three books in the Poetic Death series; Lori Avocato did the same for her books in the Pauline Sokol series. Gray & Co., the publisher of the newly reissued Milan Jacovich mysteries, provided a complete set of the series. These were very popular with the recipients. These are just some of the creative ideas that authors, their publicists, or their publishers have come up with in the past. We’re open to suggestions! Again, the only cost associated with this promotion is the cost of shipping the prize package to us and any costs associated with the contents of the package. The time frame for the contest is generally from 6 to 8 weeks and attracts an audience with between 600 and 1000 unique visitors registering. This number has been growing 10-15% with each succeeding contest which seems to indicate its increasingly popularity. There is no charge to create a contest to be promoted on our site, but you will need to consider the costs of providing the prize contents and shipping the prize to the winner. Mystery Author Interviews This is something relatively new for us, and we're really just getting started. We have completed a few interviews that are accessible from our Mysterious Reviews website (<http://www.mysteriousreviews.com/>. We provide a list of written questions to which the author responds. A short biography is also included. In addition to publishing the interview on our site, we will also provide excerpts on Mystery Books News (<http://www.mystery-books.com/>. There is no charge to be interviewed by us, though we strongly prefer to have reviewed one or more of your books prior to the interview. Guest Blogging You are welcome to guest blog on Mystery Books News (<http://www.mystery-books.com/>. We do not, however, provide open access to the blog for posts. All posts must be pre-approved prior to posting. We strongly prefer original content and while some self-promotion is expected (and even encouraged!), the post should not be overly BSPish. There is no charge to guest blog on our site. Contact Information If you are interested in promoting your book with us or have any questions, please contact: Lance
